British-Bred Queen Bees

Quality Queens for Stronger, Healthier Colonies

At Jarvis Honey, we believe the foundation of every successful hive begins with a quality queen.

Based in Oxfordshire, our queen breeding programme is focused on producing strong, healthy British-bred queens selected for desirable traits including temperament, colony performance, resilience, and productivity. Each queen represents careful planning, responsible breeding, and a commitment to supporting the future of British beekeeping.

A well-bred queen can transform the performance of a colony. Whether you are replacing an existing queen, strengthening your apiary, or establishing new colonies, our queens are produced with the aim of helping beekeepers create calm, productive, and sustainable hives.

Carefully Bred. Thoughtfully Selected. Proudly British.

Our queen production is built around a deep understanding of honey bee behaviour, colony development, and the importance of selecting the right characteristics for modern beekeeping.

We carefully monitor our colonies throughout the season, selecting from strong-performing stocks and focusing on queens that demonstrate excellent colony traits. Our approach prioritises healthy bees, manageable colonies, and reliable performance for both hobbyist and professional beekeepers.

As Jarvis Honey continues to grow, we are investing in our breeding programme with a significant expansion of queen production planned for 2027. This will allow us to supply more British-bred queens while maintaining the quality, care, and attention that our customers expect.

Supporting Beekeepers Across the UK

Whether you are managing a single hive or building a larger apiary, choosing the right queen is one of the most important decisions a beekeeper makes.

At Jarvis Honey, we are committed to providing queens that give beekeepers confidence, backed by careful preparation, ethical practices, and a genuine passion for honey bees.

From our Oxfordshire apiaries to your hive, our goal is simple:

To provide exceptional British-bred queens that help colonies thrive.

An Important Note for Beekeepers

A queen bee alone cannot start a colony. A queen requires a population of worker bees, food stores, and the correct hive environment in order to establish and maintain a successful colony.

For this reason, our mated queens are intended for use by beekeepers who already have suitable colonies requiring requeening, or who are able to introduce them into an established colony or nucleus colony. For those looking to start a new hive, we recommend considering one of our premium nucleus colonies, which provide a complete colony with a queen, worker bees, brood, and resources needed for successful establishment.
